Hi all.. I'm trying to convert an RT running AIX 2.2.1 to 4.3 BSD(AOS), and having not much luck. I have a donor who's willing let me copy BSD onto my machine via the network, but first I need to prepare the RT for the transfer using the AOS "sautil" and "miniroot" floppies. But my machine refuses to boot from either of them. When i try it, the floppy spins for a moment after all the self-tests are complete, then just quits. Now, I've been informed that some magic procedure is required to remove the AIX minidisk formatting from the hard drive, but nobody seems to know exactly how it's done. I've gone through every menu on the AIX installation/maintenance floppy, but haven't found the trick there. I naively tried simply deleting all the existing minidisks with the maint. floppy, but it doesn't allow deletion of the page-space and "/" minidisks because they're still "in use". I've also been poring over the AIX manuals for many hours, but haven't found anything helpful there, either. Does anyone out there know what incantation is needed to do this? or is the problem something else entirely? Any clues at all would be much appreciated. I doubt this is of general interest, so e-mail replies would probably be best. Many thanks in advance... Harold <harold@cac.washington.edu>
