From: Richard Garland <OC.GARLAND@CU20B.ARPA> The FINGER program which I wrote several years ago which appeared on several DECUS tapes is now working for VMS V4.0. This is a full function finger system which acts as a local or network server (in-bound, out-bound and gate-waying). Local services include all usual system features, plan file support, mail messages, last login etc. Networks supported are DECnet (in and out-bound), BITnet (in and out-bound using "jnet" available from Joiner Associates) and TCP/IP (out-bound only, Kashtan (TWG) version). An in-bound request on any network can be gatewayed to any out-bound network. TCP/IP code has only been tested under VMS V3.x. System consists of 26 files: VMS Fortran and Macro. Documentation and Installation files included. Size: 96 DEC-20 pages, 429 VMS blocks. System can be FTP'ed via ANONYMOUS FTP from CU20B::<OC.Garland.Finger>. Use Multiple Gets and copy all files in the directory. This has been working for over a month under VMS 4.0 and for a few days under V4.1. Please send any bug reports to me at this mailbox. For those off net, please try to find a friend on net. I will return a tape if you send one (with postage) only as a last resort. BITnet managers: send me your BITnet ID and I will send the files via BITnet. Rg -------
