I've got an IBM4019-E printer, with the PostScript option connected (via the parallel port) to a model 320, running AIX 3.1 (3002). Everything seems o.k. with the setting, till - the printer runs out of paper. Then I get a "fatal error" messsage on the console, and go to add paper. When this has been done, and the printer is ready to continue, I return to the console, where a "lpq" command reveals a staus of DOWN to that queue. Starting it causes the percent-count of the lpq command to start from 0 and "run" till the percentage where the printing stopped due to lack of paper is reached (without any printouts) and then....nothing, no printouts, no files in the queue, big nothing ! The queue was configured using SMIT, as 4019 parallel PostScript and it is the default queue. Any solutions to the problems ? BTW - configuring a similar queue for an HP-LJIII, using IBM's advice in a "HOW-TO" paper, works o.k. for it, and when there's no more paper in the tray, you just add some paper, and the printing continues, just as one would expect. Anybody knows how to handle it ? AWD ppl. - you must have a 4019-E to be able to give some solid advice on that problem... /Zvika Zvika Bar-Deroma Phone: (+972)-4-292706 Faculty of Aerospace Engineering, Fax : (+972)-4-231848 Technion Haifa 32000 Israel BITNET : AER7101@TECHNION Internet : AER7101@TECHNION.TECHNION.AC.IL UUCP : ...!uunet!pucc.princeton.edu!technion!aer7101
