[comp.unix.aix] AIX PS/2 device file backup and restore

jew@charon.sunquest.com (James E. Ward) (03/15/91)

Are there programs available for PS/2 AIX that properly backup and
restore devices to tape? I.e. has anyone ported afio or something
equally capable? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
in advance...

Something wrong with using backup/restore?? They handle devices, well
except for the one case of the unix domain socket, /dev/log, and that
doesn't matter. As far as afio, what's to "port"?? I just compiled it
and used it on the PS/2, although I never did get it working properly
on the 370.

Disclaimer: I don't speak for the company.

I ported afio if anyone is interested and it does handle device files.

Backup and restore handle device files properly. What is the best way to
duplicate an entire system, minidisks and all?
