[comp.unix.aix] RS6000 does not allow rlogin

fred@spindletop.tamu.edu (Fred Seals 5-2298) (05/15/91)

I have an RS6000/530 running 3004. If the power goes out or if you power up the unit it does not allow telnets or rlogins. If you do an /etc/reboot on the system everything works right. All required processed seem to be running both after power up and after reboot.

Has anyone ever had this happen? Is there a solution? Is this just another IBM "feature"?

The above opinions are my own. To my knowledge they are not shared by my
employer or my friends. However, they should be.

Didn't realize that we shipped a 3004 to customers...

Not the way it's supposed to work, and certainly not the way it worked
on my 3003 or works on my current 3005 systems...

No, I think we could safely say that almost any vendor's system will not
let you telnet to it when it's powered off :-} :-}.

Sorry, couldn't resist :-}!
