From: dual!islenet!bob@BERKELEY Of possible interest to others out there, here is my (brief) list of some software packages affected by an upgrade to VMS4.0 from VMS3.7: DISSPLA (graphics package from ISSCO) No problems running vanilla DISSPLA under VMS4.0. (TELAGRAF has difficulties, but since we don't have that...) IMSL (scientific subroutine library from IMSL Inc.) IMSL advises that some of their routines do not work properly when compiled optimized with the new 4.1 FORTRAN and suggests (for now) compiling their package with /NOOPTIMIZE. KERMIT (public domain file transfer from Columbia) Current VAX MACRO version supposedly destroys terminal blocks when run under VMS4.1. A hexified version of a revised KERMIT.EXE that does work under VMS4.1 (also 3.x) is downloadable from dec-marlboro (but does anybody have a new version in source code form?). LIPS (image processing library from Gould/DeAnza) Revised driver required. Update tape is -- or should be -- in the hands of their regional distributors. PACSPLUS (accounting package from Signal Technology) Current full (with sources) distribution needs to be re-compiled setting appropriate PARAMETERs for 4.0 -- also see their April buglist for additional patches. From: Tony Li <Tli@Usc-Eclb> While we're mentioning packages that break, tack on INTERLISP from ISI. Bad binary image under V4.0 Virtual Microsystems Bridge software for the Zboard. There may need to be some minor modifications to deal with the different QIO. In any case, we can only find 3 of the 4 processors on the board. Cheers, Tony ;-)

From: Raymond Bates <RBATES@ISIB> ISI has a version Interlisp that runs under either V4.01 or V3.xx of VMS. If you want more information about Interlisp contact VYORK@ISIB. /Ray
