I'm new to perl as well as to this newsgroup. I'm having some difficulty trying to emulate multi-dimensional arrays. I understand they're not directly supported, but I found the explanation of the $; variable difficult to understand. What I want to do is emulate a multi-dimmed array with three string subscripts. I want to use the first subscript as a key to search on later in the script, and if there's a hit, I want to compare other string subscripts in the same element to make sure they're the same as some other small string variables I'm checking. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
