I'm running PCNFS (FTP's version 1.1) on [34]86 workstations connected to a central Unix based server. Now reading directories seems to work ok but sometimes when transferring files backwards and forwards the transfer simply stops, times out and dies. It doesn't seem to bear any relation to the size of the files, the workload on the server or anything but the one lead I (may) have is that a check on the client nfs statistics shows that the last nfs error number is 253. Unfortunately I can't find any mention of what that means anywhere in the piles of manuals etc. lying around!!! Incidentally for those interested the server is an Altos 486 running 16 nfsd's. I find this seems to give significantly better performance than the default configuration of 4. There are other users on the machine but I don't really care about loading - I just want this network to be seen working! Mike No .sig - use the header!!! -- Automatic Disclaimer: The views expressed above are those of the author alone and may not represent the views of the IBM PC User Group. --
