I've just been on this list for a few days and wonder who is out there. I'm a rural post-secondary educator in Indian Country and would like to correspond with farmers, educators, and cooperative extension agents. I'm also curious about speaking with avid readers of Wendell Berry, Wes Jackson, Masanobu Fukuoka, Gene Logsden, etc., specifically, sustainable agriculture advocates.

Are prescribed burns being done much in your area? I just read the book Prescribed Burning (U California Press) and am looking at the advisability of doing a followup burn myself on an area of 15-20' conifers that was just cleaned out nicely by the 1987 Mendocino N.Forest fires here. I proofread for Whole Earth Review and Catalog, so come across the kind of writing you're interested in fairly often!
