From: Kevin Carosso <engvax!KVC@cit-vax> Unfortunately, there is no way to get disconnectable terminals using DECnet's SET HOST at the present time. The RTDRIVER does NOT use the standard TT class driver, but instead contains a lot of duplicate code to perform the functions that the TT class driver performs. Unfortunately, not ALL the code is duplicated, and this includes the disconnectable terminal support. (At least, this is what I have concluded after looking at the drivers a bit.) I think that the way SET HOST works precludes using the VMS terminal port/class driver mechanism to create network terminals that are identical in functionality to "normal" terminals. This means that the RTDRIVER tends to lag a bit behind the TTDRIVER. At DECUS, someone from DEC did mention that VMS 4.2 contains several enhancements to the DECnet remote terminal support, but I heard no specific mention of what those enhancements were. With any luck, they will support virtual terminals. Again, I did NOT hear that disconnectable remote terminals were in 4.2, I'm just hoping they are!
