This is a followup to a post I made a few days ago. It is from an
article written early this year.

The Confederate Air Force is indeed moving from Harlingen, Texas to
Midland International Airport, Midland, Texas. Midland IAP is located
about 8 miles W of Midland and I believe is approximately half way
between Midland and Odessa.

By the end of Feb 91, approx 30-40% of parts had been trucked from
Harlingen to Midland. The HQ was supposed to move from Harlingen to
Midland between 15 Apr and 1 May.

The annual fall airshow will be held at Midland on 12 and 13 Oct and
feature the entire Air Power Demonstration depicting WWII from 1940
until 1945. There are 5,000 rooms within 10 minutes of the airport. For
information and reservations, call the Midland Chamber of Commerce at
1-800-624-6435.

The "grand opening" of the CAF facility will be in Dec 91. 7 Dec 91
marks the 50th anniversary of the "Day of Infamy" (FDRs words, the day
of the Japanese sneak attack on Pearl Harbor. The grand opening,
complete with a reenactment of the attack on Pearl Harbor by the CAF's
famous Tora Tora group, will culminate a three-day symposium that will
consist of lectures by the experts on the events leading up to the
attack on Pearl Harbor beginning with events that took place in the
1920s.

(I saw five aircraft of the Tora Tora group at McGuire AFB, NJ on 26
May. The five aircraft were two "Vals", a "Kate" and a "Zeke". All
were originally converted for the movie Tora Tora Tora many years ago
and all have authentic markings. Very interesting show especially for a
guy who thinks that "real airplanes" have propellers and is not very
impressed with the current "bug suckers".)
