UNPRESS: NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF ARGENTINA Jorge Alberto Vazquez, the new Permanent Representative of Argentina to the United Nations, presented his credentials today to Secretary-General Javier P|rez de Cu|llar. Mr. Vazquez was most recently Ambassador of Argentina to the Dominican Republic (1984-1987). A political prisoner from 1976 to 1981, Mr. Vazquez rejoined the Foreign Service in 1983. He originally entered the Argentine Foreign Service in 1967. From 1970 to 1972, he was an official at the Embassy of Argentina at Santiago, and from 1972 to 1973 at the Embassy of Argentina at The Hague. In 1973 he served as Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Argentina. Subsequently, he was Professor of International Law at the University of Buenos Aires (1974-1976), and Professor of Law of Integration at La Plata University (1974-1976). Mr. Vazquez holds a Master's Degree in Political and Social Sciences and Diplomacy from Catholic University of C rdoba (1965) and was a Fulbright Fellow (Georgetown University, 1966). Mr. Vazquez was born on 4January1943 in Buenos Aires.
