DOD: U.S. AND LAOS TO CONDUCT SURVEY The Laos People's Democratic Republic and the United States Government have agreed to conduct a joint survey of crash sites aimed at resolving cases of Americans missing in Laos. The survey will start on August 28 and is expected to conclude on September 1, 1989. The U.S team, led by Lt. Col. Robert W. Hensley, USMC, will include technical experts from the Joint Casualty Resolution Center and the U.S. Army Central Identification Laboratory in Hawaii. The sites to be surveyed are located in Savannakhet Province in Southern Laos. The findings of this survey will be evaluated in Washington and Vientiane and be used to plan upcoming excavations. The United States Government appreciates this step by the Lao government in keeping with the year round program of cooperative efforts to resolve the POW/MIA issue, as agreed to in January of this year. Resolving the issue of Americans still missing or other- wise unaccounted for in Laos as a result of the war is a matter of highest national priority. * Origin: UNITEX --> Toward a United Species (1:107/501) --- Patt Haring | UNITEX : United Nations patth@sci.ccny.cuny.edu | Information patth@ccnysci.BITNET | Transfer Exchange -=- Every child smiles in the same language. -=-
