From: "RLM" <mattis@nbs-sdc> We are running the NCAR plotting package on our VAX-11/780 and would like to capture the Tektronix plot files which it creates and process them further for input to a Talaris laser printer. The NCAR software and the MCVAX metacode translator are about three years old. When we use the MCVAX FILE command, the file which is created cannot be plotted but produces much garbage on the screen. The only way we are able to capture a Tektronix plot file is to send it to a stopped queue, copy the file out of the queue, then remove the entry from the queue. A file obtained in this way plots fine and can be translated into Talaris format. It appears that I have the choice of giving users the privilege of stopping and starting a queue or creating a permanently stopped queue. It would seem that there must be a better way. Perhaps I am not using the FILE command of MCVAX properly. Has anyone used the NCAR plotting package to successfully capture plot files? Any help would be appreciated.
