Action on Resolutions
In draft resolution L.2 concerning the question of the
realization of economic, social and cultural rights which was
adopted by consensus, the Sub-Commission considered that one of
the reasons for the non-realization of human rights and

economic, social and cultural problems, and decided that the
following item would be considered on an annual basis: The new
international economic order and the promotion of human rights.
Under a decision on rationalizing proposals for studies (L.28),
the Sub-Commission decided to examine at its forty-second
session ways and means of rationalizing proposals for studies
and to consider the possibility of drawing up a medium-term
programme; which would ensure participation of the greatest
number of the Sub-Commission members and requested the
Secretary-General to submit to it at its forty-second session a
note listing all the studies which had already been undertaken
and the names of those who had prepared them.
Under a decision on establishing of a working group on
suggestions and proposals (L.29), the Sub-Commission decided
that at the beginning of its forty-second session it would
establish a sessional working group of five of its members,
designated by the various regional groupings, open to the
participation of all the members of the Sub-Commission, to
prepare an overview and an analysis of the suggestions and
proposals which had been made in order to enable the
Sub-Commission to better discharge its responsibilities in
dealing with violations of human rights as discussed under item 6
of its agenda, taking also into account the functions and duties
of the Commission on Human Rights in the matter.
