From: ANDERER <anderer%udel-cc-vax1.delaware@udel-louie.ARPA> We're looking to replace our 40 DZ-11 remote lines with something a little more efficient (..on a 780 running VMS). DHU-11s seem to fit the bill. But before spending the money, is there anything we should know about them that our salesman might not volunteer? Thanks in advance.

From: W._Michael_Terenyi%QZCOM.MAILNET@MIT-MULTICS.ARPA If you do not choose a LAT-server, you have also the possibility of using a DMZ-32-Multiplexer. The DMZ-32 gives you 24 asynchronous ports (RS232) with full modem control, but much better performance than the old DZ11. The big advantage of the DMZ-32 is the fact that the distribution panel with the 24 connectors can be as far as 1 mile away from the VAX cabinet. There is only a 4-wire cable between the controller module and the distribution panel. Every port can have a speed of up to 19.2 kilobaud, although the maximum throughput over the 4-wire-line ist about 72 kilobaud (if I remember correctly). I suppose that the DMZ-32 is a cheaper offering then the LAT-server. Michael
