SOVIET/AMERICAN CONFERENCE ON PEACE AND MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING What: A conference on promoting peace, mutual understanding, and good will between the Soviet Union and the United States. The conference involves most of the exchange students from the Soviet Union here in the New England area. Speakers will include a representative from SANE/FREEZE, a congresswoman from Rhode Island who is head of the U.S./Soviet Bridge Committee, and Professor David Adams of the Wesleyan Psychology Department, among others (we hope). Social activities and discussion sections will be interspersed with the talks. Where: Wesleyan University, Middletown CT 06457. This is approximately a half hour away from New Haven or Hartford, and approximately 2 hours (optimistically) from New York City or Boston. When: Friday, Nov. 17 starting at ~5:00 pm and Saturday, Nov. 18 for the whole day. Who: Everyone who's interested in East-West relations is invited. Anyone is welcome. If you're coming from out of town, sleeping arrangements can be provided, though food and transportation costs are not being subsidized (so far). Why: At the conference, all the participants will help draft a statement covering mutual desires of (some members of) the USA and the USSR.
