All other FORSCOM Active Army and Reserve Component units in Alaska will be placed under WESTCOM as a result of the realignment. The reassignment is in support of the new Unified Command Plan, signed by the president on Aug 1, 1989, which places the State of Alaska in the U.S. Commander-in-Chief Pacific Command (USCINCPAC) area of responsibility. Placing the 6th ID and U.S. Army Garrison, Alaska under WESTCOM, the Army component to the Pacific Command, assures USCINCPAC of responsive Army support in Alaska. * Origin: UNITEX --> Toward a United Species (1:107/501) --- Patt Haring | United Nations | FAX: 212-787-1726 patth@sci.ccny.cuny.edu | Information | BBS: 201-795-0733 patth@ccnysci.BITNET | Transfer Exchange | (3/12/24/9600 Baud) -=- Every child smiles in the same language. -=-
