Hi there, I'm glad you had wrote to me. Thank you very much. I really appreciate your help. Well, my project is simply required to display the music notation on the screen of a computer. The music data is extracted from the MIDI keyboard. The actual music notation representation is yet to be decided as there is not many choices. And we (I myself and my project partner) have not got musician`s knowledge of reading this music notations. Since we have IBM-AT for this project, and it has got no MIDI interface, we had to design our own. So far we manage to communicate to the MIDI interface hardware and to the keyboard via that hardware. We still have to do the "time-stamping" to the midi-events received and using the hardware interrupt from the DART(Z8440- Dual Async. Receiver Transmitter). Once this has been done, we will have to design the Interface To the End user who can be anyone interested in Music-MIDI-COMPUTER(IBM). If possible we wish to be able to edit the music by manipulating this MIDI data. For this I do need some Music knowledge and I`m working on it. I hope you understand what we are doing. Well I do have some enquiries for you. 1. What are the standard file-format? 2. Which issue of the keyboard magazine describe this MIDI 'standard file-format'? 3. About the timing-accuracy, which part of the 'standard file-format' does not support the one used timing-accuracy? (I suppose it has some timing information.) 4. What is the timing-format or resolution required to have a high degree of timing-accuracy? 5. Can you send me some samples of this 'standard file-format' MIDI music file of anything relevant? Well I better srop here. Hope to here from you soon. Thanks.
