This is a formal call for votes for the group comp.sys.ibm.pc.programmer. The purpose of this group is to provide a forum for discussions on programming the IBM-PC family of computers. It is anticipated that most of the postings will be about MS-DOS, programming the hardware, the BIOS, and other low-level programming. There are already groups existent for discussions of OS/2, UNIX, and other high-level operating systems that run on the PC. Of course groups will go where they will, but this is a start. To vote, send mail to ibmpc@ficc.uu.net. The vote should contain the words VOTE YES or VOTE NO in the subject line or in the body of the message. The voting period will run from Jan. 11 to feb. 10 with a 5-day grace period. A summary of votes received will be posted at Jan. 21 and Jan. 31. This will be the only acknowledgement you will receive unless you explicitly request one. If all goes well, the group will be created at Feb. 15. There is some minor controversy over the name. If this vote fails, then I will call for discussion on a more radical proposal involving a multi-way vote at Feb. 15. This will end up delaying the group by 49 days, but if the readers of comp.sys.ibm.pc consider a single new group inadequate it'll have to be. -- _--_|\ Peter da Silva. +1 713 274 5180. <peter@ficc.uu.net>. / \ Also <peter@ficc.lonestar.org> or <peter@sugar.lonestar.org> \_.--._/ v "Have you hugged your wolf today?" `-_-'
