STELCO TECHNICAL SERVICES LTD We are looking for two people to join the Computer Section of our technical support department. Steltech, a subsidiary of Stelco Inc., is an engineering and research consulting firm, whose customers are primarily in the materials supply business. IBM-PC compatible microcomputers are used as independent workstations, and terminal emulators for mainframe access. Onsite minicomputers include HP1000, HP3000, and Microvax. Internal data communication is through a dataswitch or local area networks. 1) SYSTEM MANAGER We are looking for an independant worker with good communication skills. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic service oriented environment. The job consists of management of an HP1000 minicomputer, and assistance in support of an HP3000 minicomputer. User assistance, and support of system software. Assistance to users in the development and use of database applications. Knowledge in the following areas would be of value: 'C', Fortran, 4GL's and Hewlett-Packard minicomputers. Training will be provided for candidates with the appropriate background. Candidates should have a degree in computer science. Equivalent documented experience would be given consideration. 2) MICROCOMPUTER SUPPORT TECHNICIAN We are looking for an innovative individual with good written and oral communication skills. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment. The job consists of providing computer support for a group of engineers and research scientists. Training of users in the use of computers and application packages. Hardware and software troubleshooting are an important duty in this position. In depth knowledge of the IBM-PC and PS/2 software and hardware are required. Knowledge of Data Communications, Network or CAD would be an asset. Candidates should have college diploma.
