There is a benchmark, called xfroot, that ejk@uxh.cso.uiuc.edu (Ed Kubaitis) administers/created. I have seen numbers reported for various MIPS boxes which I can not understand. These numbers are 60% higher than I think they should be. There are 60% higher than numbers reported for comparable DEC & SGI machines. I am asking if any of you who read this news group have run this benchmark on your machines. If you would, could you send Ed mail, and ask him to send you the xfroot code, then run it on your machine? Perhaps whomever sent Ed numbers for these mips machines made a mistake in setting up the code. If you do run this benchmark, would you time it with /bin/time? Run /bin/time xfroot -a 3000 -b 3000 -c 3000 Please send your results to Ed (ejk@uxh.cso.uiuc.edu), and to me (mac@ardent.com). Thank you. -- Michael McNamara (St)ardent, Inc. mac@ardent.com
