Hardware: M/120 with Q-120 cartridge tape drive. Occasionally while doing backups (dump.ffs) I see error messages such as the following: Feb 6 10:36:27 uakari unix: SCSI 6L0: Non-recoverable data error What exactly does this mean? That the driver has found a bad spot on the tape and has skipped it? I notice that if this occurs a single time, the dump proceeds, but that if it occurs 5 times, e.g., Feb 6 10:36:27 uakari unix: SCSI 6L0: Non-recoverable data error Feb 6 10:36:28 uakari last message repeated 4 times then dump.ffs asks whether I want to restart. If the message occurs once and dump keeps going, should I be concerned, or is this a normal occurrance? (Pardon my hopeless ignorance; I'm not experienced with this type of media.)
