In most systems, the xterm termcap is set up such that when you suspend or quit vi, the window is restored to the state it was in when vi was last entered. While this may or may not be desirable to everyone, I'd like to have some consistency in my work, and I find it useful. Does anyone out there have the mods to the RISC/OS terminfo entry for xterm to do this? -- David Elliott dce@smsc.sony.com | ...!{uunet,mips}!sonyusa!dce (408)944-4073 "Yewhainuhnuthubudduhawndaw" -- Evis

A number of people have replied to me on this subject. A couple of people gave me reasonable answers (for which I am thankful). The people who told me to use the "titeInhibit" resource in xterm were wrong, but they showed that there is a bug in the MIPS xterm terminfo entry. By default, the ti/te strings, or rmcup/smcup in terminfo, should cause xterm to switch buffers. The titeInhibit flag can be set to true to inhibit this behavior, but there is no flag to force the behavior. -- David Elliott dce@smsc.sony.com | ...!{uunet,mips}!sonyusa!dce (408)944-4073 Help!!!
