We have a RC3240 (upgraded from M/120-5) with four Digiboards and RISC/os 4.3. Several of the Digiboard serial ports are connected to modems or modem equivalents such as a terminal server. If a modem user issues a 'nohup' and places the job in the background with an '&', that line is unusable until the background job completes. The next person to dial-in on that port encounters a brain dead echo mode. Once the backgound job completes, however, it possible to login normally again. The following error meassages are output to the console during the period that the serial port is hung: ------------------------------------------------------------------- getty: open of ttyd25 after carrier drop returned error 5 getty: cannot open "ttyd25". errno=105 fd=-1 getty: cannot open "ttyd25". errno=5 fd=-1 eemips: INIT: Command is respawning too rapidly. Check for possible errors. --------------------------------------------------------------------- We have reported this to Mips software support several times, but we have never received a response. Has anyone encountered this problem before? ======================================================================
