[comp.sys.mips] Running the M2000 PROM monitor on sable

dmd@peora.ccur.com (David Dittmer) (06/28/90)

Is it possible to run the M2000 PROM monitor on the sable simulator?
(I have the SPP 5.00 package). When I tried it, it failed in the
"prom_recognition" routine because the cpu board type returned by
"get_machine_type" was not 'R3200'. If the sable configuration
variable "memory_map" is set to 'mbox', "get_machine_type" returns 'R2300'.
If "memory_map" is set to 'm120', "get_machine_type" returns 'R2400'.
These are the only two memory map models that are provided with sable.

No, there is not an M/2000 memory model for sable. You can either (a)
build the M/2000 PROM monitor with a test that allows BRDTYPE_R2300, or
(b) clone the mbox model, changing it based on the memory map described
in the M/2000 Technical Reference.
