Is there anyone out there who has a mips with serial connections coming in over a MICOM port selector? We have been having all sorts of trouble getting acceptable behaviour. Any help would be appreciated. Vicki Jordan, La Trobe University, Bundoora, Vic Australia ccvj@latvax8.lat.oz.au ----------------------------------------------------------- Configuration: MIPS M120, RISC 4.02, DIGICARD REV Digispecial 3.10 MICOM PORT SELECTOR Micro600 Wiring: MICOM MIPS 2 ------TX-------<--------2 3 --------RECV--->--------3 6---------DSR---->--------6 7---------GROUND----------7 20--------DTR----<--------20 Initially, with MICOM thumbwheel position 7 : Disconnect protocol: dedicated port, Break disconnects Connect protocol : dedicated port, DSR,CTS & TLSD held high all the time by the MICOM gettytabs fields: # B9600 CLOCAL SANE TAB3 # Behaviour: Mips logouts do not release micom line, this must be done manually using break. Further, disconnected processes can be "picked" up by anyone coming along, ie someone can find themself connected to someone elses session. Because of the security implications of the above, we experimented as follows: MICOM thumbwheel position 8: Connect protocol: DTR port, a) CPU port must have DTR high to be available for connect b) MICOM raises DSR, CTS & RLSD for duration of connect. Disconnect protocol: DTR port, a) CPU toggles DTR (must drop for a min of 150 microseconds and must turn back on within 150 seconds or the port will be placed out of service) b) MICOM then drops DSR,CTS & RLSD. gettytabs fields: # B9600 CLOCAL SANE TAB3 HUPCL # Behaviour: Mips logouts release micom line. Break key puts the micom port out of service. After one day of student use we had all serial lines out of service!!
