Mike, Unfortunately, although DECnetted systems can use a jnet host to SEND mail to remote Bitnet systems, they usually can't RECEIVE it. If node B's DECnet name plus the user's login name on node B is more than 8 characters (including the ::), it gets truncated to 8 by RSCS, which usually doesn't work too well. If you need full functionality, I'm afraid you'll have to do one of the following: 1. get "license to copy" jnet for your DECnet systems (jnet can use DECnet itself, so no additional hardware is needed.), 2. give the people who need it accounts on node B, perhaps restricted so that they can only run Mail, or 3. locate some gateway software. I know some exists, but Joiner doesn't support it. We opted for solution 2, without the restriction. Note: To send mail to a Bitnet host from node B by way of node A, use the following in Mail's "To" field: nodea::GATEWAY::"username@nodec" where nodea is the DECnet node name of the jnet host, username is the remote user's login name, nodec is the remote node's Bitnet node name, and ::GATEWAY::" is a required part of the syntax (sending the message to JMAIL). You can try this on your jnet host, sending mail to yourself.
