[comp.sys.mips] 64KB i/o

Question:
Has anyone tried reading 64KB blocked tapes from
an Exabyte drive on an M/120 running RISC/os 4.5? (And if
so, how did it go?)

Background:
We are about to upgrade our M/120's from RISC/os 4.01
to RISC/os 4.5.
Up until now we have been doing backups without problems
for these M/120's in 64KB records to their Exabyte drive.
However, we have recently discovered that our new "Magnum",
already running RISC/os 4.5, panics whenever we try to read backup
tapes written (at 64KB) by the machine which it replaced.
Before upgrading we'd like to know whether we need to
copy all our old 64KB tapes to 8KB (many hours work) or
whether the RISC/os 4.5 M/120's will still read the old tapes.

Cheers,
bruce.
