[comp.sys.mips] Exabyte reading problem on RC3230

han@eemips.tamu.edu (Kyongho Han) (06/11/91)

We have two mips machines , RC3230 and RC3240.
The Exabyte backup tape from RC3240 could not be read from the RC3230
and machine listed an error about the different block size.
We swapped the Exabyte driver but it did not make any difference.
And Randy at Mips Customer Support Center worked for this and he
found that RC3230 can not read the tape recorded in block size of 126.
He suggested to use the block size of 64 and we can make the 8mm backup
tape from each Mips machines readable from the other drive.
Mips CSC told me that the next release will fix this problem.
Thanks to Mips CSC!
