Does anyone have a map of UUNET systems in a given area, and of Gates into
other networks?

Um. UUNET is not the name of a network. Uunet is the name of a very
well known site that you can pay to get uucp connections to and other
services as well. They are a non-profit organization and charge
reasonable rates.

Now, as for the question I think you are asking, there is a registry
of uucp sites, called the "Uucp Mapping Project", and they post their
registery in comp.mail.maps. Look there for both the maps and a file
that explains what is in the maps.

If there is nothing in that newsgroup, your system either doesn't get
that group or the system squirrels the maps away somewhere special.
The only way to find out (unless you feel like exploring) is to ask
your system administrator.
