I'm an 'rn' user. I use the -S option to allow me to read my articles in a "Subject Thread" order. However, there are several newsgroups that I check out the subjects of before I read any articles. I use = at the newsgroup selection level to give me a list of subjects. So far, so good. Instead of =, what I really want is a list of subjects with only the first unread article in any Subject Thread listed. That way I wouldn't have to wade through screens full of article subjects that are identical. I've tried /./|my_own_filter_for_doing_this but that takes too long to get all the articles thru SNTP. I really just want the subjects anyway. What I really want is: /./=|my_own_filter but that doesn't have the semantics of dumping the output of = into my filter. Hints would be appreciated. Even if there is no answer, 'rn' is still the best news reader I've used. :-) -- Cliff Van Dyke cliff@ssd.harris.com Harris Computer Systems cliff%ssd.harris.com@eddie.mit.edu 2101 W.
