[gnu.misc.discuss] Why I like FSF software, and why I don't like FSF ...

jnh@ecemwl.ncsu.edu (Joseph N. Hall) (07/30/89)

In some respects I feel like I was born under a bad moon. On the one hand,
not only are certain GNU products prime examples of "software-as-art," i.e.,
fast, efficient, elegant, etc., they are the best implementations
around ... i.e., G++ and EMACS.

On the other hand, I am a VAX/VMS programmer and a Mac owner with
responsibilities that run deeper than my software/political ideaology, and
I guess you can see how I might feel a little put out by the current
sentiment at FSF.

If FSF software is supposed to be as "free as the air," then I guess there
just isn't much air over here where I'm sitting.
