I have installed CommonTex on my machine. Here's a quick overview what's
available and how much it costs:
The system is split into modules, you only have to buy the modules you
want:
[most things 20.- -- 70.- DM each, including INITEX, LaTEX, source codes,
Metafont, GnuTEX (adapted version of GnuPlot), BibTEX etc.]
The system was compiled on a Sun using GNU CC, thus it's much faster than
Aztec-compiled versions (or so the author says, don't flame me for this
:-). It comes with installation scripts, documentation (not much) and demo
.tex files.
Of course it's public domain, you can copy it but you're not
^^^
allowed to make it available via bbs or ftp or sell it as public

domain. You're right, for public domain the prices are high enough,
but since the system is really good (I didn't have any guru yet and
it's FAST) I think it's all right. If you have any problems you can
even call the author himself, he offers this service.
You can get CommonTEX at the following address:
Wolf Computertechnik
Deipe Stegge 187
4420 Coesfeld
West Germany
Tel. 02541/2874
The author is:
Frank W|bbeling
Stadtlohnweg 33/E30
4400 M|nster
West Germany
Tel. 0251/866261
Uh, if it's really public domain you can do anything you want with
it, and some of these codes may be copylefted. Not to slight
W|bbeling's work, but this smacks suspiciously of software hoarding....
Best to refer to the original details of the message to see how
this looks.
