In some news items I read recently I heard of a Gnu Malloc that
was supposed to improve performance of Malloc intensive programs
significantly. We tried it with some X Toolkit programs that
are real intense and saw no significant difference.
We are running on a Sun SparcStation. Are Sun's malloc routines
already optimized so well that Gnu's don't help? Or are we doing
something wrong? Anyone else tried this?
The release we have was written May 1989 by Mike Haertel.
