Greetings. This is agreat opportunity! I just recently brought up
"DECUS uucp" (Jamie Hanrahan @ simpact assoc.) on my VAX, and shortly
thereafter, got Geoff's NEWS system up and running. Two weeks later,
this newsgroup showed up! (thank you, guys).
Some comments, then a few questions:
Comment #1: Damned good software. I had little or no trouble getting
it up and running, and it works just like I expect it to.
(except as noted below).
Comment #2: The USER guide is great (even too much?!) but the INSTALLATION
Guide needs some help, ESPECIALLY when it comes to the support
files (NEWS.SYS, etc...)

Question #1: My "newsgroup pointer" ALWAYS is pointing to the second
newsgroup whenever I start NEWS, no matter WHAT i read
last. ("NEWSRC." however, CORRECTLY shows what I last
read...)
Anyone else have something like this happen?
Question #2: My "automatic" invocation of pathalias doesn't seem towork
(I get mail in comp.mail.maps, but nothing happens). This
is probably related to the NEWS.SYS and NEWS.DISTRIBUTION files
not saying what they should.......
If someone ELSE can post their WORKING news.sys and news. -
distribution files, (as far as this subject goes), that would
be a great help.
I'd love to hear what other (up and running users) have to say!
