Hi All, This is the first time I have submitted something to ANU-NEWS & it has to be a plea for help. I am trying to configure another node (WAIARI) to receive news items, without much success. Here's the network, Operating systems & versions of NEWS: Netland <-> Node NZFC <-Decnet-> Node MOF <-UUCP-> Node C Node NZFC is running VMS 5.0 & NEWS 5.8 Node MOF (thats me) is running VMS 4.7a & NEWS 5.6 Node WAIARI is running XENIX & RNEWS Here's the problem: WAIARI sends me (MOF) a news item to a network newsgroup via UUCP & RNEWS.COM adds the item to my local news database, but goes no further. Nothing appears in NEWS_MANAGER_DEV:[POST_NZFC] to pass onto NZFC. Everthing works fine the other way, where news batches are passed into [POST_WAIARIKI] for items coming from node NZFC Items travelling from NZFC to MOF (& back) are also working fine. Below is my NEWS.SYS & NEWS.DISTRIBUTION files (if this is of any help). Hmmm. Looks to me like you are doing things right. Two questions. What is RNEWS.COM? I don't recall anything like this in the standard distribution. Does it use the standard ADD FILE News command to add the articles? Second, what does the Path: line in a message from waiari look like? Does it actually have Path: waiari!.... or is is something like Path: waiari.x.y!...? The system name in the NEWS.SYS and NEWS.DISTRIBUTION files must match exactly what is in the Path: header. +-------------------+-------------------------------------+------------------+ | Bob Sloane \Internet: SLOANE@KUHUB.CC.UKANS.EDU/Anything I said is | | Computer Center \ BITNET: SLOANE@UKANVAX.BITNET / my opinion, not my | | University of Kansas\ AT&T: (913) 864-0444 / employer's. | +-----------------------+-----------------------------+----------------------+
