We have the same problem, and initially I left LC- and LP- DRIVER off the kit. This causes it to scream (non-fatally) when you boot, though. DEC phone support suggested changing the /HEADERS=40 on the INIT of the second system volume (SYSTEM_2) to /HEADERS=35 in STABACKIT.COM. This leaves enough free space after the init for everything to fit. ...but I'll bet the TU58s with the missing drivers boot quicker! -Ken

While you're rebuilding your TU58 kits, you'll find that if you put the boot files on the tape in the order in which they are taken, and only the ones necessary for boot on your configuration, you *win* amazingly every time you bounce the machine. Apparently if the files are in sequence, accessing the next one doesn't spin it all the way back to the directory block [?] or some such. [I have a thing someplace that builds a lightning-fast boot tape for a "standard" 730 config which I can dig up for you if you like...] _H* -------

As I recall from my experience with VMS, the order of the files on the TU58 cartridge is *important* for boot speed. Make sure you copy them in the same order they appear in the distribution tape. An image copy should do it. It has been a while since I used VMS, I hope I am not talking nonsense now. Ken
