Everything I get is sent back. I'm getting my feed from two nodes, mintaka and bloom-beacon. I seem to be sending everything back to mintaka for some reason. I don't understand the problem. As I understand it, NEWS looks in NEWS.DISTRIBUTION for a left-hand part the matches the Path: field, grabs any right-hand parts and looks them up in NEWS.SYS thus finding where to write the Message-Id: list. Files are written for both helios and mintaka with identical message id lists in them even though mintaka does not appear on a right-hand side in NEWS.DISTRIBUTION. I'm confused. Here are the entries in my NEWS.DISTRIBUTION file. # nuhub.acs.northeastern.edu helios.northeastern.edu # mintaka.lcs.mit.edu helios.northeastern.edu bloom-beacon.mit.edu helios.northeastern.edu Here is the NEWS.SYS file. nuhub.acs.northeastern.edu:alt,athena,ba,bionet,comp,control,\ ddn,general,gnu,junk,misc,mit,ne,news,nu,pubnet,rec,sci,soc,\ talk,to,unix-pc,usrgroup,windows:: # mintaka.lcs.mit.edu:alt,athena,ba,bionet,comp,control,\ ddn,general,gnu,junk,misc,mit,ne,news,nu,pubnet,rec,sci,soc,\ talk,to,unix-pc,usrgroup,windows:N:news_manager_dev:[nntp_tcp]mintaka.ids # helios.northeastern.edu:alt,athena,ba,bionet,comp,control,\ ddn,general,gnu,junk,misc,mit,ne,news,nu,pubnet,rec,sci,soc,\ talk,to,unix-pc,usrgroup,windows:N:news_manager_dev:[nntp_tcp]helios.ids Chris Johnson confused ANU-NEWSer Northeastern University

There's nothing like bugs in older versions coming back to haunt me:... >> I just got this `pleasant' call from my news feed. He said, "Did you >> know that you're sending me everything I send you?" >> > I'm having the same problem. Everything I get is sent back. I'm >getting my feed from two nodes, mintaka and bloom-beacon. I seem to be >sending everything back to mintaka for some reason. I hope both these problems are with pre V5.8A sites. If not please let me know and I'll have a more detailed look at the code - there WAS a problem, but I though that somewhere along the line I had addressed a bug in the sys_remote_send function.
