This may be to difficult to program but I would like to see the change after reading the comp.sys.mac and comp.os.vms groups today. Several hundred of items. A lot to scan. Suggestion A) Change the item display when reading a newsgroup to only display the top item in a series of followups. If the original parent is not there display the oldest reply. Then hide all replys behind that item. Hitting the right arrow while standing on this item will then display all items in this branch of the tree, including the parent. Hitting the left arrow will take you out to the "parent" display. In the parent display you put in a symbol somewhere that indicate that you have unread news "behind" this item even if you have read the parent. If you read by doing read/followup/new you will of course end up in the "branch" display if there is items unread. Suggestion B) Put an option to the skim command that tell skim to KEEP entries that have childs that are not outdated. This will make it possible to keep discussions as long as someone has anything to say. Nice to be able to recall the whole series of items. -- Mats Sundvall Biomedical Center +46/18174583 University of Uppsala Mats.Sundvall@BMC.UU.SE Sweden psi%24020019700620::MATS
