The sender is marked as "unknown" and the subject is marked as > "<NONE>". We are running news 5.8A. Is this a know problem and are there any > workarounds? I have found that inserting the two lines From: dummy Subj: dummy before the initial <FF> at the start of the file solves the problem. I am curious about this, since I am sure that under previous versions of VMS I always got the standard VMS mail headers before the message itself, which meant that NEWS didn't get mixed up. Has anyone else noticed a difference in this area. We are running VMS v5.0-2. Incidentally, we did try EXTRACT/NOHEADER but found as everyone has said, that NEWS doesn't like that. Here's the initial text of the message which goes up OK (it has the two dummy lines preceding it): From: dummy Subj: dummy From: IN%"sysmgr%king.eng.umd.edu@murtoa.cs.mu.oz" "System Manager" 24-AUG-1989 10:14:01.94 To: cmu-tek-tcp <cmu-tek-tcp@CS.CMU.EDU> CC: Subj: Incoming Telnet crashes system Received: from acsnet-daemon by mail.cut.oz; Thu, 24 Aug 89 10:13 +8:00 Received: from uunet by murtoa.cs.mu.oz with UUCP (5.5) id AA04744; Thu, 24 Aug 89 09:59:14 EST (from CMU-Tek-Tcp-Request@prune.srv.cs.cmu.edu for cinfocmu@mail.cut.oz) Received: from PRUNE.SRV.CS.CMU.EDU by uunet.uu.net (5.61/1.14) with SMTP id AA21389; Wed, 23 Aug 89 17:04:16 -0400 Received: from CS.CMU.EDU by PRUNE.SRV.CS.CMU.EDU; 23 Aug 89 15:31:28 EDT Received: from KING.ENG.UMD.EDU by CS.CMU.EDU; 23 Aug 89 15:29:09 EDT Date: 23 Aug 89 15:23:00 EST From: System Manager <sysmgr%king.eng.umd.edu@murtoa.cs.mu.oz> Subject: Incoming Telnet crashes system To: cmu-tek-tcp <cmu-tek-tcp@CS.CMU.EDU> >From CMU-Tek-Tcp-Request%prune.srv.cs.cmu.edu@murtoa.cs.mu.oz Thu Aug 24 09:59:14 1989 Message-Id: <8908232104.AA21389@uunet.uu.net> Greetings. <stuff deleted>
