One thing I would like to see in the ANU-NEWS program would be to allow for a custom ordering of newsgroups. That is to say, I'd like to have the local groups listed first, then all the national USENET groups by alphabetical order AFTER the local groups. If a user wanted to edit his NEWSRC. file to make yet another custom ordering, that would be nice to. Does ANU-NEWS (We're running v5.8A) support this now? ( I didn't see any kind of reference to it in the manuals, and I tried to edit my NEWSRC. file, but it seemed to get re-sorted for me automatically.) It would also be good to allow for this to be the default order for new users who don't yet have a NEWSRC. file. -- //==========================================================================\\ || Ed Federmeyer || Internet: ed@iitMax.iit.edu || || "Unauthorized access is || Bitnet: sysed@iitVax || || strictly unauthorized." || Office: (312) 567-5981 || \\==========================================================================//

V5.9C will include the option SET PROFILE/RCORDER which will display newsgroups according to the order in the newsrc file. It will also include the option SET PROFILE/RCFILTER which will only display those newsgroups mentioned in the newsrc file - all other newsgroups are ignored. >It would also be good to allow for this to be the default order for new >users who don't yet have a NEWSRC. file. V5.9 supports a system defined template NEWSRC file for first time users on the local system to allow this to happen. Geoff Huston
