I've been trying to separate my newsgroups into logical classes (the VaxNoter in me is adapting) :-). Could someone explain the following behavior? First of all there seems to be two classes; $net and $local. These classes are created by default. If you try to delete an entry from $net for example, the prompt returns (no error) but the entry still remains in the class. I assume this is normal because NEWS wants to retain a record of ALL newsgroups in your NEWSRC file. I created alternative classes and then modified my profile to a default class. Unfortunately, NEWS seems to ignore this default class. What am I missing? In addition, the READ/NEW command does not respect your current class. Is there a way to set your class and have the READ/NEW command stay within that class only? -- =================================================================== | Harrison M. These classes are computed classes - the criteria for selection are the newsgroups which are set to /LOCAL are in class $local - others are in $net >I created alternative classes and then modified my profile to a default class. >Unfortunately, NEWS seems to ignore this default class. What am I missing? This sounds like a bug - I'll look at the default class selection code. >In addition, the OPEN/NEW command does not respect your current class.
