First, I like to thank everyone for the help I've been given over the last few months. Now, I'll ask for more help. this is on a VAX 11/785 runnin VMS v5.2 and ANU-NEWS version5.9c 1) I'm getting some of my news-messages via mail I'm extracting the messages from mail, and the doing an ADD BATCH with the extracted file. The problem I'm having is that the first two messages end up in one message. I had/fixed this problem before, but I don't remember what I did. 2) My second problem is this. I get a very large feed (most of the usenet groups) from a UNIX machine. I set up my news.sys file to put all outgoing messages into a file called ID.FILE. Well, it puts messages ids for both locally posted messages and fed messages into this file. This should still work because when I use NNTPFEED to send messages back to the UNIX machine, it should reject the messages it already has right....WRONG. Anu news converts the message ids to lower case before it puts the in the ID.FILE, which means the UNIX machine will now except those messages. Thanks for your help Larry P.S. Please post responses to the net, and send them directly to me. =============================================================================== Larry Michalewicz | BitNet: LARRY@UNTVAX Vax Programmer/Operator | THENET: NTVAXB::LARRY Student of computer Science | Inter : LARRY@vaxb.acs.unt.edu University of North Texas | SPAN : UTSPAN::UTADNX::NTVAXB::LARRY Denton, Texas 76203 | AT&T : 1 (817) 565-5578 ===============================================================================

I ran into this problem too, although from a different direction. Basically, you have to remove every call to s_to_lower() that deals with an id. I made the fixes here and I'll be sending them to Geoff soon. If anyone needs them right away, e-mail me and I'll send them to you. I'll be in Washington, D.C. for USENIX Jan. 22-26 so the earliest I could send them out is Jan. 29. -- Leonard J.
