Hello everyone, a couple of points if I may. Firstly, we're running VMS News - V5.8 (02-Mar-1989) with VAX/VMS V5.0-2 (still!). I mostly read news at home over a 2400 baud modem and find it a little frustrating when the newsgroup directory is redrawn in screen mode after a skip/followup, after an item is found that matches my kill list, or following and update command (not so frequent). It seems such a waste of time at lower terminal speeds. Is there any way to avoid this? Secondly, it would be nice if a clear_screen was done after an extract command (once again, NEWS finds it necessary to redraw the group directory!), for those of us who like to capture items in their entirety 'off the top' of the screen. I use extr tt: for this and it works famously, but only in noscreen mode. In screen mode, the last 20 odd lines of the item get overwritten by the redraw of the group directory, which isn't preceded by a clear_screen. Most scroll-back stuff knows to keep a screen that is about to be erased. Minor issues I agree, but I'd be interested in any comments.
