[news.software.anu-news] One more bug?

BEN@SPCVXA.BITNET (Ben Cohen) (02/24/90)

Just discovered this one:
On the nightly SKIM, News isn't deleting empty directories that don't have a
newsgroup to support them (although they used to). The response is "Not Deleted
- Directory not empty or protected" (approximately, don't remember exact text).
I did some further looking and discovered that the directory _is_ empty, but
has standard protection (S:RWE,O:RWE,G:RWE,W:RWE) for directories. What's so
special about these that News isn't deleting them? [And, please, no flames
about "Well, there's no S:D access". That's the way that News is creating the
directories; it should be smart enough to get rid of it properly, shouldn't it?
After all, that's what automated processing is all about, right?]

Yes, this is a bug in 5.9C. I have fixed this for the next release
