Can someone tell me why NEWS allocates 33 blocks for almost all of the ITM files even if they are only 2 blocks (2/33)? This is not consistant. If this is not necessary, can someone tell me how to change this? Thanks, Jim...

I know that the .BATCH files created by the NNTP server (WIN) are created 33 blocks long. Is that what you are talking about? Other than that, I would tend to suspect some of the device/RMS settings at your site. I don't suppose the device as a cluster factor of 33? Or perhaps some of the system default RMS allocation quantity stuff is causing this? Other than that, I would look for fopen() calls in the source and see if any are specifying the optional RMS parameters. -- USmail: Bob Sloane, University of Kansas Computer Center, Lawrence, KS, 66045 E-mail: sloane@kuhub.cc.ukans.edu, sloane@ukanvax.bitnet, AT&T: (913)864-0444

Well here is the output of a dir/siz=all [.comp.os.vms] and you can see that some of the .itm files are /33 and some aren't. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Directory DISK$ACSDISK4:[ANUNEWS.NEWSMGR.COMP.OS.VMS] 10.ITM;1 4/33 28-FEB-1990 11:06:20.40 [ACS,NEWSMGR] 11.ITM;1 2/33 27-FEB-1990 20:50:40.37 [ACS,NEWSMGR] 12.ITM;1 4/33 27-FEB-1990 20:50:53.18 [ACS,NEWSMGR] 13.ITM;1 9/33 28-FEB-1990 11:03:00.06 [ACS,NEWSMGR] 25.ITM;1 2/3 28-FEB-1990 11:10:28.98 [ACS,NEWSMGR] 7.ITM;1 3/33 27-FEB-1990 20:49:17.49 [ACS,NEWSMGR] 9.ITM;1 5/33 28-FEB-1990 11:03:02.52 [ACS,NEWSMGR] Total of 7 files, 29/201 blocks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jim...
