From: PORTER <mike%vax1.acs.udel.edu@louie.udel.EDU> Does anyone have any information on a product called 'JNET' for VMS. This is used to access BITNET. It is supposedly marketed by Joiner Associates, but I do now know how to get in touch with them. An address for Joiner and general information on the quality of the product would be appreciated.

From: Ronald A. Jarrell <JARRELLRA%VTVAX5.BITNET@WISCVM.ARPA> I'm not even going to bother figuring out who's into domains and who's not... I'll just post the info for everyone.. jnet (tm) is indeed a product of Joiner Associates in Wisconsin. In my opinion it does an excellant job of making a Vax talk like a VM running RSCS. In fact, in many respects I'm convinced that a Vax running jnet 2.0 is a better VM than a VM is! They also have excellant customer support. Version 2, which is shipping/will ship real soon (I'm pretty sure I remember October as the ship date) has lots of neat features in it including full profs (tm) and all-in-1 (tm) support (Profs is a product of IBM and all-in-1 is a product of DEC.) Being that it supports RSCS emulation, it's an ideal vehicle for connecting to Bitnet, but it's not limited to that. Great for connecting any arbitrary VM and Vax.. Runs on the full vax product line from uVax to 8600. For more information contact the jnet sales people through the network at: jnet%wiscpsl@wiscvm.bitnet Actually, I think the address is more like "jnet%wiscpsl.bitnet@wiscvm.arpa" Sorry.. I've been up for too long and am to lazy to abort this message and go back and correct it. That'll teach me not to send/edit.. -Ron Jarrell Va Tech I have no connection with joiner associates other than as a beta tester for jnet. My opinions are my own and nothing in this message should imply a commitment from joiner for any product or service.
