Has anyone out in the 'netland' had any experience using a colour hardcopier with Sun SparcStation 1/GX machine ? Our applications run under real-time, data acquisition environment. The display software runs on top of SunView windowing system and has the ability to output screen-dumps in Sunraster file format. To provide network-wide resource sharing, video interface to the colour printer is not a very attractive solution. SparcStation 1, on the other hand, is limited in the number of interface slots for add-in cards and has 2 RS-232 serial ports and 1 SCSI port. I am aware of HP's PaintJet printers but unless there is a way to convert the screen-dump to HP's proprietary PCL or HPGL format, the SparcStation will not work with this printer. Any suggestions as to the availability of such a filter? I would very much appreciate relevant information or pointers that you may be aware of. Responses may be collated if there are enough interests in this area. Thanks in advance. Toshiba Int.
