Mark Brader pointed out to me that I made an error in describing the little awk script I posted to alt.sources --- In article <1989Dec6.024228.4332@sq.sq.com> lee@sq.com (Liam R. E. Quin) writes: > sane, mc68k, mc68000 -- least significant "clump" is on the left > intel, vax -- least significant "clump" is on the right This is, of course, the wrong way round, and should read > sane, mc68k, mc68000 -- most significant "clump" is on the left > intel, vax -- most significant "clump" is on the right Sorry for any confusion. The code was correct. Also, for people who don't like "sane" here -- note that I am not saying intel is "insane" -- in fact, if it were present, an "insane" comamnd would make bcalc use completely random byte ordering on each input line, just to liven up those late-night sessions... But I find the intel ordering confusing when typing at "bc", and after a few (sometimes zero :-) minutes start making errors, which is why I wrote the script. Lee -- Liam R.
